David Simbo appointed new Eskisehirs Kutuluspor captain

The Turkish Amateur side Eskişehir Kurtuluşspor three points away from a relegation spot

Sierra Leone defender David Simbo has been handed Eskisehirs Kutuluspor captain armband.

Head coach of the Turkish Amateur side, Ali Onur Cerrah, has confirmed to this medium that Simbo will fill the void left by the former skipper.

Simbo, 28, who signed for the Turkish on a year deal in July 2017 has displayed he is a true professional according to his team coach.

He has been rewarded for his hard work and commitment to the club since joining.

“Simbo has been really good and has shown a good and honourable character even at a time of difficulties,” Cerrah explained to www.footballsierraleone.net.

Simbo is well respected by his teammates and the Leone Stars player is a key player for the Turkish side Cerrah reiterated.

“He is a key player for us, a really good athlete – very well respected because he is a reliable and well-organised defender, who organised our defensive sharp.

“Most of his teammates are English speakers and that makes it easier for their communication.”

Cerrah, who is a one of the associate professor in the Sports science faulty in Eskisehir and head of the education department, has been the head coach for Eskisehir Kutuluspor for the last three seasons.

The 34-year-old also admitted his side is going through a tough season, they’re presently three points away from relegation a spot.

“Many players have departed the club because we finished the first half of the season in a bad position. Simbo is of those who stayed and doing his best to help the club fight to stay in the league, “Cerrah confirmed.

Simbo has had spells in Sweden with → Motala (on loan), Trelleborg (on loan), Boden and Sandviken before joining Sudanese top-flight side Al-Hilal in 2014–2015 and later moved to Najran and Krumkachy Minsk in Belarus.

He started his playing career with local club Mighty Blackpool, where he was impressive before moving abroad.
