Bristol City Keeper Sesay set for Sierra Leone debut in Liberia

Bristol City 19-year-old Sierra Leone-born keeper Alhaji Sesay will be included in John Keister’s squad for Leone Stars trip to Liberia, Football Sierra Leone understands.

Sierra Leone will take on their neighbours in Liberia’s Independence Day showdown slated for July 22 in Monrovia.

The youngster, who in 2016 signed a two-year contract with English Championship side, will be available family sources have confirmed.

“I think I’m going to join the team in Liberia. I’m just waiting for my ticket confirmation,” he told a close family member.

Sesay was born in Sierra Leone and started playing with a local club FC Kallon before moving to Europe.

The impressive stopper on Sunday was in goal for the City U23’s against Bath City when they were defeated 2-1 at Twerton Park.

Swedish club IK Frej Taby’s defender Alie Sesay and former Partick Thistle right wing-back Mustapha Dumbuya are also expected to make the trip to Liberia.

The friendly test will be the first for Liberia’s newly appointed interim coach of the Lone Star, Thomas Kojo, who is expected to use mostly local players.

It’s believed that the former Barrack Young Controllers technical director will use the team that just participated in the WAFU U-20 nation’s cup that was hosted in Liberia.

Liberia v Sierra Leone last encounter was on 05 June 2017 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium which was won by Liberia 1-0.

Sierra Leone in the race to Cameroon 2019 will take on Walias of Ethiopia in September in one of Group F’s CAF Afcon qualifiers.
