IK Brage midfielder, Seth Kanteh Hellberg, is among 13 foreign-based players named by new Liberia coach Peter Butler to face Sierra Leone.

Hellberg, 24, who plays in Sweden’s second-tier, was born to a Liberian mother and Swedish father.

The first leg contest is a World Cup 2022 preliminary scheduled to be played at the Samuel Kay Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville City, kick-off 4:00 pm on Wednesday 4th September and the return leg in Freetown on 8 September.

Newcastle United under-23 midfielder Mohammed Sangare, who made his long-awaited debut away to DR Congo in March, is also in the squad.

Captain William Jebor, who recently moved to the United Arab Emirates and Belarus-based defender Eugene Swen, who last featured in the 1-0 friendly defeat to Ivory Coast in March, were recalled.

Veteran South Africa-based striker Anthony Laffor of Mamelodi Sundowns missed out due to injury.

Butler will name the local-based players after LPRC Oilers and LISCR FC’s Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup second leg ties this weekend.

Liberia will take on Sierra Leone on 4 September outside Monrovia with the return leg in Freetown on 8 September.
