Rigobert Song critically ill after suffering stroke

Cameroonian legend and former Liverpool defender Rigobert Song is critically ill in hospital after suffering a severe stroke.

The 40-year-old was raced to hospital in Yaoundé, Cameroon, yesterday with a brain aneurysm.

The married father of four, who is reportedly fighting for his life, was at his home in the Odza district of the Cameroonian city when he suffered the stroke.

Another Indomitable Lions hero Samuel Eto’o posted a picture of Song with the caption: “I wish you a lot of courage and a speedy recovery big brother!”

The former Indomitable Lions skipper started his professional career with Metz and after several impressive appearances; he was selected to the Indomitable Lions for the World Cup in 1994.

With Metz, he helped the club to win the Coupe de la Ligue in 1996 and after appearing at the 1998 World Cup, he joined Salernitana,

Song is currently the head coach of Chad’s senior national team. He was appointed as manager of the Chad national team in October 2015.
