Senegal international Kara Mbodji has reportedly signed a new one-year contract extension at Anderlecht, which will keep him at the club until 2020.

The 6ft 3-inch defender played a pivotal role for the Belgium side when they clinched the 2016/17 Belgian Pro League title and the recent 2017 Belgian Super Cup.

Mboji, 27, who joined Anderlecht in 2015, put pen to paper on a new deal on Saturday, despite interest from elsewhere in Europe, according to the club’s official website.

The towering defender was a part of the Senegal selection for the 2012 Olympic Games.

He was included in the Senegal squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and scored in a 1–1 draw with South Africa in the team’s second group match.

The Ndiass-born player began his career with Diambars in his homeland, before moving to Tromso in 2010 and in 2013 joined Genk on a three years deal.
