Kei Kamara scored two goals to ensure Vancouver Whitecaps’ beat Chicago Fire 3-2 on Saturday night.

Kamara, 33, has hit the ground running with eight goals of the season, and was voted the MLS Budweiser Man of the Match.

He also surpassed Dwayne De Rosario as the seventh all-time leading goal scorer in Major League Soccer regular season.

The Sierra Leone native opened the scoring for the hosts in the 28th minute when he got on the end of a loose ball in the box and poked it in with his right foot.

The visitors equalized in the 42nd minute when Kevin Ellis received a throw-in from Dax McCarty on the right, deep in the Whitecaps’ half.

Ellis fought off his defender and drove a low cross to Nikolić in front of goal. With the inside of his right foot, Nikolić calmly redirected the ball into goal to pull Chicago level.

Jordon Mutch doubles the host lead with his first MLS marker for the Whitecaps.

Kamara put the Whitecaps ahead 3-1 in the 72nd minute with his second goal from a close range, converting an Alphonso Davies pass from the left flank.

Tony Tchani in the 81st minute scored the Chicago Fire’s second of the day but was too late to rescue at least a draw for his side.

Kamara and Whitecaps begin a busy period of fixtures when they travel to Washington to take on D.C. United next Saturday.
