Swedish Allsvenskan side Djurgården have today signed Mohamed Buya Turay on loan for the 2019 season.

Turay, 24, joined Belgian side Sint-Truidense for a record fee of 1.7 million Euros on a three-year from Dalkurd but has not been able to replicate his form in Sweden.

The Sierra Leone international scored 9 goals in 13 appearances for the Swedish side before his move.

Turay made six appearances with his only goal for the club was on his debut in their 1-1 home draw against Lokeren in the Jupiler league back in August 2018 in six appearances.

During the 2016 season in the Swedish Superettan, Turay accounted for ten goals to help AFC Eskilstuna promoted to Allsvenskan.

The striker told club’s website: “I am so happy to play for Djurgården. I have been in contact with DIF earlier and it is a club that I have always wanted to play for.”

“So for me, it feels like coming home and it also becomes a new start to my career.”

“I do not know so many in the team now, but I know many who have played for Djurgården. For example, Omar Colley or Sam Johnson who is striker just like me. But I’m probably a little faster than him, haha.”
