Ghana’s record all-time scorer, Asamoah Gyan, has been included in their 29-man provisional squad ahead of next’s month Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.

The Kayserispor’s attacker has made a U-turn after announced his retirement from the national team on Monday.

“A presidential request is one that cannot be disregarded,” he stated in a statement. “I have taken the request of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in good faith and will make myself available for selection by coach Kwasi Appiah to help win the AFCON trophy.”

He has not featured for the national side since September 2017 after persistent injury problems and has also struggled for game-time at Kayserispor.

The 29-man provisional squad also includes three locally-based players.
