$5000 reward for penalty hero Williams against Sierra Leone

  • The 18-year-old Liberian keeper, Ashley Williams has been rewarded for his crucial penalty saved on Sunday against Sierra Leone in Freetown.
  • Jos Travel Agency acknowledged the youngster’s effort after helping Lone Star to the group stage of the 2022 African World Cup qualifier.

William’s 94th minute saved was pivotal in the contest, having defeated the Leone Stars 3-1 in the first-leg at home on September 4.

The Lone Stars trailed 1-0 in the reverse fixture in Freetown and risked elimination if Sierra Leone skipper Umaru Bangura could have scored their last-gasp spot-kick to win 2-0.

As a result, Peter Butler’s side progressed with a 3-2 aggregate win.

The winner of each group will then face-off in home-and-away ties for a place at the global showpiece in Qatar 2022.
