In-form Sierra Leone native Daramy granted Danish citizenship

Sierra Leone native Mohamed Daramy has been granted Danish citizen on Monday afternoon. The ceremony took place ahead of his 18-years birthday tomorrow.

As a result, the FC Copenhagen youngster has been presented with a huge opportunity to represent Denmark.

Daramy, hailing from Sierra Leonean parents has been a revelation for F.C. Copenhagen since he penned his first professional contract on April 2019 keeping at the club until the end of 2021.

Danish Football Association celebrated the news. DBU posted on twitter “Huge congratulations on the Danish citizenship of Mohamed Daramy, who can now pursue his dream of playing #ForDanmark.” 

“DBU’s Talent Development Manager for boys, Flemming Berg, congratulated Daramy and Daramy’s mother at Hvidovre City Hall with flowers and a national team jersey. He has impressed all season making 13 appearances in this campaign scored a vital goal against FC Riga in the Europa League playoffs.”

The striker, who is on the radar of Scottish top-flight side Celtic, joined F.C. Copenhagen from Hvidovre IF  as a U14 player.
