Since joining in July, striker Kei Kamara played fifteen games for the Finnish Veikkausliiga side HIFK and scored five goals, one assist helping the club to a playoff spot.
The Major League Soccer all-time fifth top scorer has expressed satisfaction with experience acquired at the City’s Pride outfit.
Answering questions from this medium, Kamara, who played 359 matches in the MLS, scoring 130 goals making 37 assists for eight different clubs, said, “My time in Finland was great. The experience was definitely, one of the best experiences I thought I ever get in football.
The 37-year-old went further, “It was a really, big test for myself – to move into another country and join a team played 15 games in three months without a break. It was a good test for me, and I’m happy I was able to help the team reach a historical finish that they haven’t been part of in a long time.”
The former Minnesota United and Colorado Rapids hitman also acknowledged the club’s history.
“It is a club with the biggest fan base in the country, a rich history, and now I am only proud I was able to go there and be part of that history.”
The striker, known for his athleticism, is one of only ten players to have scored 100 goals in MLS history.
Kamara also has experience from England with spells at Norwich City and in the Championship with Middlesbrough.
His 19th-minute goal from the spot at the General Lansana Conté Stadium ensures Sierra Leone qualify for next years African Cup of Nations after 25-years against Benin in June.
