Sierra Leone International David Simbo has expressed his sheer delight at securing a permanent move in India with second-tier I-League side Gokulam Kerala.
The 32-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year deal as he hopes to make his mark in South Asia.
With the formalities of the deal now completed, Simbo is itching to make his debut at the home of the Malabar Football soccer side.
“I am really excited after not being able to play for a while. I have an adrenaline rush. I am looking forward to revamping my career in the next two to three seasons I got left,” Simbo told FSL media.
“I can’t wait for the new season to commence – I’m so looking forward to this new adventure as football is developing fast in this part of the world.”
He last played for Baf Ülkü Yurdu during the 2019 season and has been without a club since then.
The Sierra Leone international missed out on the African Cup of Nations due to not having a club but was part of the side that played goalless to Lesotho in March 2021, during the qualification campaign at Setsoto Stadium Maseru.
He started his playing career with boyhood club Mighty Blackpool in 2007 before moving to join Norwegian side Raufoss 2009.
Simbo has had spells at Motala, Trelleborg, Boden, Sandviken, Al-Hilal, Najran, Krumkachy Minsk and Yeni Amasyaspor.
