Canadian side CF Montreal will battle it out with Mexican club Cruz Azul in the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League quarter-finals next month.

The first and second leg matches will be played from March 8 to 10 March and 15 to 17, respectively.

Forward Kei Kamara made his CF Montreal debut in the victory over Santos Laguna in the 2022 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Round of 16 series on Wednesday night at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal.

The Canadian side overcame Santos Laguna 3-1 on aggregate to reach this year’s quarterfinals.

Kamara’s side entered the tie with a 1-0 deficit to start the night before the MLS side turned things around to claim a 3-1 victory on aggregate and a spot in the final eight.

Goals from Romell Quioto and Djordje Mihailovic in the 10th and 22nd minute, respectively, before Ismaël Koné sealed the game.

The current holder Monterrey did not qualify for this year’s competition. The competition is expected a new winner to be crowned.

The winner of the competition qualifies for the next FIFA Club World Cup, although the date and details for that competition are not yet known.

CF Montréal is Kamara’s ninth Major League Soccer club after he signed for the 2022 MLS season with an option year for 2023.
