Sierra Leone International Amadou Bakayoko scored his twelfth in the campaign as Bolton Wanderers registered their eighteen wins after a 2-1 triumph over Doncaster Rovers on Friday.
“Important win today. We want to finish strong this season. I am delighted with my goal contribution to get the win,” the striker told FSL News after the match.
The home side levelled the scoreline through Mipo Odubeko in the 77th minute after Amadou Bakayoko struck for the visitors in the 47th minute as ex-Doncaster player Kieran Sadlier put Bolton back in front within a minute.
The Trotters started the stronger after Bakayoko missed a header. However, Doncaster had the better of the first half when Josh Martin drew a pair of decent saves from Bolton keeper James Trafford while Matt Smith drilled narrowly wide.
Bolton took the lead on 47 minutes when Bakayoko stretched to reach Jon Dadi Bodvarsson’s centre and poke home.
Doncaster pushed for an equaliser, and they came close when Martin beat the wall with a free kick, only for Trafford to get a hand to it.
They found one on 77 minutes when West Ham loanee Odubeko fired in from 15 yards.
But the visitors restored their lead a minute later through Kieran Paul Sadlier as he met a deep cross and powered the ball into the roof of the net.
