Host Algeria will kick start the 2023 African Nations Championship in the opening game with a clash in Group A when the host neighbours Libya at the newly-built Baraki Stadium in Algiers on 13 January 2023 at 20h00 local time (19h00 GMT).

The two North Africans will open the seventh edition of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship. And for the first time in history, eighteen countries will be competing.

Morocco’s Atlas Lions won the sixth edition at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde on 7 February 2021.

As a result, Morocco became the first team to win two consecutive titles in the competition history designed exclusively for home-based footballers.
