Sierra Leone-born Trevoh Chalobah gets first England national call up

England manager Thomas Tuchel has announced his squad for the upcoming matches against Andorra and Senegal, featuring Trevoh Chalobah, who earns his first senior call-up.

Notable inclusions are Al Ahli striker Ivan Toney, recently moved from Brentford, and returning forward Ollie Watkins. Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke was omitted.

Chelsea defender Chalobah joins teammates Reece James and Levi Colwill in the squad, along with Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer.

Chalobah has captained various England youth teams and notably led the under-17 side in 2016 before an ankle injury cut short his under-19 European Championship campaign. He made his U21 debut in 2019.

England will play a World Cup qualifier against Andorra on June 7, followed by a friendly against Senegal at Wembley on June 10.

Jay Tee Kamara quickly made an impact during his debut for the Hearts in their US League One tie, and Walter Varela also shined in a thrilling 2-1 victory over FC Naples at Fitzpatrick Stadium on Saturday night.

“I arrived in the U.S. on Monday, started training on Tuesday, and made my debut on Saturday to help the team win,” Kamara said.

Kamara entered the match in the 26th minute after an injury to Mikey Lopez. Just days after arriving from Sierra Leone, he put pressure on the Naples defense with his impressive footwork. His efforts paid off in the 43rd minute when he scored after collecting a rebound from Varela’s deflected shot.

Naples equalized early in the second half with a goal from Luke Prpa in the 56th minute. However, in the 75th minute, Varela took advantage of a setup from Nathan Messer. After a quick exchange, Varela dribbled past a defender and shot towards the far post, finding the net. This goal secured the victory for the Hearts and marked a highlight in Varela’s season.

Bromley Football Club has confirmed new deal for full-back Nathan Paul-Lavaly and several others.

Lavaly, a native from Sierra Leone made six senior appearances last season following his debut in their first home EFL game against AFC Wimbledon.

The Academy graduate also assisted in a recent match against Barrow and received a Special Achievement Award at our 2024/25 Awards Evening.

Paul-Lavaly played the full 90 minutes in our first home EFL game against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup. He has also made two more senior appearances against Chelsea U21s and Charlton Athletic in the EFL Trophy.

He was sent on loan to joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Carshalton Athletic on a one-month loan.

This thrilling encounter occurred during Round 16 of the Japanese Premier League 2 (J2 League) at the Sapporo Dome, where Consadole Sapporo faced off against Toyama. It was another big moment for the Sierra Leone footballer in Japan, continuing to impress in his debut season.

Consadole Sapporo initially found themselves trailing 1-0 after Toyama opened the scoring. However, Amadou Bakayoko entered the match in the 68th minute and quickly changed the dynamics with a crucial equalizer — a textbook example of how vital he has become in the Amadou Bakayoko J2 League journey.

His skillful finish leveled the score and set the stage for an exciting finale. The momentum continued in the dying moments of the game when Ryota Aoki netted the dramatic winner in the 90+2nd minute, securing a comeback victory for Sapporo.

In a post-match interview, Amadou Bakayoko shared his reaction:

“Coming off the bench with the team down 1-0 and being able to make an impact by scoring a goal was incredibly fulfilling. It feels great to contribute to the team’s success and to see us secure the win in the end. I’m delighted to add another goal to my tally and help my team continue on the path to victory.”

Meanwhile, in another J2 League clash that day, Tosu edged past Akita 2-1 with goals from Nagasawa Sivatafari and Vikintas Slivka, highlighting the competitiveness across the league.

Sierra Leone native Bangura-Williams pens long-term deal with Millwall

Sierra Leone native Raees Bangura-Williams has signed a new long-term contract with The Den. The 20-year-old will continue with The Lions following his impressive start.

Bangura-Williams made his debut in January during the Emirates FA Cup Third Round, scoring just 10 minutes after coming on against Dagenham & Redbridge.

His father is an amateur football manager originally from Sierra Leone, currently based in Park Langley.

“I’m grateful for all the support and have more to give. It’s an honour to be here,” he said, noting the season has been life-changing and that Millwall is the right place for him to develop.

In 13 appearances, he has impressed fans with several assists, including key plays against Cardiff City and Portsmouth. His performance earned him a call-up to England’s Elite League Squad.

Despite missing the end of the 2024/25 season due to injury, he is determined to earn a place in Alex Neil’s starting lineup for the 2025/26 season.

Millwall’s Director of Football, Steve Gallen, praised Ra’ees’ inspiring journey to the first team and expressed excitement about his contract signing as a reward for his hard work. Gallen noted that Ra’ees represents the club’s future and thanked James Berylson and Alex Neil for their support in finalizing the deal.

Sierra Leone international Alie Conteh scored a hat-trick as Mjondalen IF defeated Strømmen 3-1 in the Norwegian NM Cupen third round on Wednesday, advancing to the fourth round for the first time since 2019.

The young MIF team conceded a goal from a set piece, and against a team in the flow zone, it could be difficult to turn things around.

Conteh’s Mjøndalen pressed Strømmen and equalised just before halftime when Jonas Bruusgaard’s cross was tapped in by Conteh. Alie Conteh smelled the opportunity and elegantly tipped the ball into the goal with his right foot. Thus, it was 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Conteh capitalised on another Bruusgaard pass, striking the ball past the goalkeeper to give Mjondalen the lead.

Despite Strømmen’s late pressure, Mjondalen’s defence held firm. In stoppage time, Conteh completed his hat-trick, sealing the victory with a clinical finish after breaking past three defenders.

Minnesota United has confirmed a one-year loan signing of Sierra Leone’s U20 Cup of Nations star Momoh I Kamara from Mattia Football Club through December 2025, with an option to buy. Once Kamara gets his P-1 Visa, he will be joining MNUFC2.

“Momoh is an exciting young player with a natural feel for the game, capable of creating scoring threats,” said Amos Magee, MNUFC’s Head of Development. “We look forward to him joining MNUFC2 and building on his national team succes,” the club said in their statement.

Kamara expressed his excitement about joining, stating, “This is a dream come true and a significant step forward in my career. I’m ready to give my all for the fans and my teammates.”

Khaled El-Ahmad, MNUFC Chief Soccer Officer, praised the recruitment team for successfully adding talent like Kamara, Putt, and Kabia, highlighting the promising future for the club.

Momoh Kamara began his playing career at a young age with Mattia FC, where he played from 2017 to 2022. He briefly played for Diamond Stars Football Club in 2022-2023 before moving to Leixões SC B, competing with the Portuguese team from 2023 to 2024. Following his time at Leixões, he returned to Mattia FC before joining MNUFC2.

Internationally, Kamara has represented Sierra Leone at nearly every level, starting with the U17 team and progressing to the U20 and senior national teams. He is currently competing alongside MNUFC2 teammate Alpha Kabia in the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In the first three matches of the group stage, Kamara has scored three goals, notably a hat trick against Egypt on April 30, helping propel his country to the top of the group and secure a berth in the quarterfinals. 

The 19-year-old also made appearances for the senior team in March 2025 during two FIFA World Cup qualifier games, playing in group stage matches against Guinea-Bissau and Egypt.

Sierra Leonean international Amadou Bakayoko delivered a stunning performance for his Japanese J League 2 team, Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, scoring the only goal in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Montedio Yamagata at the NDsoft Stadium in Yamagata on Saturday.

Bakayoko’s strike, his third goal of the new campaign, proved crucial in securing three vital points for his side, propelling them up to twelfth place in the standings following a challenging start to the season.

The decisive goal came in the 56th minute when Bakayoko expertly received a well-timed pass, demonstrating composure as he slotted the ball home to give his team the lead. This moment would ultimately seal the win for Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, marking a significant turnaround in their fortunes.

On July 28, 2024, Bakayoko signed with Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo as they made their bid to return to J1 League competition. He made an impactful debut on August 16, coming on as a substitute and marking his presence with a goal from the penalty spot in an exhilarating 5-3 victory over Sagan Tosu. Despite facing relegation the previous season, Bakayoko’s contributions are already making waves in the team’s quest for redemption.

Consadole Sapporo next outing in the round fourteen of the J League 2 is when they hosts Júbilo Iwata on Tuesday.

Debutant for Sierra Leone and Arsenal young Osman Kamara talked about his first game with Coach Mohamed L Kamara’s U20 Cup of Nations squad following the 0-0 tie with Zambia at the Suez Canal Stadium on Sunday.

The Arsenal U21 player was subbed on in the 85th minute and said he was pleased to be able to help the team. “My first game against Zambia especially since it was our Independence Day, I really cherished that moment.

He added, I was grateful to have those minutes with the team.” On his experience with the team, Kamara noted that he was warmly welcomed and has built a strong connection with his teammates as they prepare for the upcoming match against Egypt.

Looking forward, Kamara is positive: “I think we will show well against a hard Egypt team. As a group, we are trying hard to do better in our next match. I can help to improve the team’s level since coming from Arsenal, an English top club.”

Along with two assists, Osman struck nine goals in 14 games in the U18 Premier League during his best goalscoring season in 2023/24. He also got useful experience in the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League and 2 for the under-21s, Premier League.

The flexible forward has been an Arsenal fan since birth and can play a more middle role in front. Having signed his first official contract with the team last summer, Osman can play internationally for either Sierra Leone or England Senior A teams.
