Barnsley will host Sullay Kaikai’s Cambridge United in week forty-one of the English League on Friday at Oakwell Stadium.

Sierra Leone International Sullay Kaikai, who won the Player of the Month award for February, last scored against Carlisle United in their 4-0 win in week 34. 

Cambridge United, also known as the U’s, is in the hunt to improve their season with a strong performance against Barnsley, who are currently fifth in the table and looking to strengthen their position.

Cambridge United has lost their last two games and hasn’t won in their last four matches. Therefore, they must avoid defeat in their upcoming game as it will further dampen their supporters’ morale.

In contrast, Barnsley has won their last five league games against Cambridge United, keeping a clean sheet in each of the previous four matches. 

Furthermore, Cambridge United has only won one of their ten away league games against Barnsley.

Abu Kamara, a native of Sierra Leone, is set to help his team Portsmouth against Wycombe Wanderers in week forty-one of the English League on Friday. 

John Mousinho’s squad will visit Wycombe on Good Friday for a 3 pm kick-off. If they can secure 13 points from the seven remaining fixtures, Portsmouth will guarantee themselves a place in the Championship. 

Abu Kamara, on loan from Norwich, has done exceptionally well in his first full season in senior football with the league leaders. 

He has scored eight goals and played in every League One match for Pompey this season. 

Wycombe Wanderers have only won 1 of their last six games against Portsmouth, failing to score in 3 matches. Portsmouth has lost 3 of their last five games at Wycombe, failing to score in those defeats. 

The home side have lost just 1 of their last ten home games, keeping four clean sheets in their last five matches at Adams Park. 

Portsmouth has not lost any of their last eight games on Good Friday, scoring 16 goals overall.

Wealdstone boss Nobel hails Kallum Cesay after debut

Wealdstone Football Club announced in February that they had signed Sierra Leone International Kallum Cesay on a permanent deal.

The former Tottenham youngster made his official debut for Wealdstone on Saturday in a 1-1 draw against Kidderminster Harriers. 

Although the Stones took the lead during first-half stoppage time through in-form Max Kretzschmar, a late goal from Ash Hemmings rescued a point for the Harriers. 

Head coach David Nobel was impressed with Kallum Cesay’s input in the game, describing him as ‘solid’ in his first senior game.

According to Noble, “He was exceptional. You saw what a fit boy he is by the amount of times he overlapped in the first half. He looked solid defensively on what was his first game in senior football.” 

Wealdstone will return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to the J Davidson Stadium to face Altrincham in a 7.45 pm kick-off.

Augustine Williams delighted to open new season account 

Augustine Williams was delighted to get off the mark after opening his account for new club Indy Eleven. 

On Saturday night, at Carroll Stadium, The striker, who signed for Indy ahead of the new USL season, scored his first goal for Indy Eleven in a 1-1 draw against Sacramento Republic. It was his home debut for the new club.

In the 31st minute, Indy Eleven conceded an own goal, but it was short-lived as Augi Williams scored a goal, assisted by Max Schneider, almost immediately, equalizing the match.

Both teams had chances in the second half, but neither was able to score the winning goal.

“Home opener debut. Deserved more than 1 point. Thanks to our amazing supporters for the support. Happy to score my first goal for this amazing club. Great shift by the lads, on to the next one @IndyEleven,” Williams noted on Twitter.

Indy Eleven’s next game is against Detroit City FC, the first Eastern Conference foe of the season, which will also be played at Carroll Stadium next Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.

Malachi Jones makes his New York City’s MLS debut

On Saturday, New York City FC played against Cincinnati at TQL Stadium and lost 1-0 in a closely contested match. 

Although both teams had few clear chances, Lucho Acosta managed to score the only goal of the match in the 57th minute. 

Despite their best efforts and fighting till the very end, City were unable to find an equalizer before the final whistle.

New York City FC were on the hunt for back-to-back wins as they took on FC Cincinnati on Saturday.

The hosts had enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season under Pat Noonan’s guidance, but City were eager to change that.

Malachi Jones, who hails from Sierra Leone, made his debut for New York City in their match against Cincinnati on Saturday. 

Head coach Nick Cushing brought Jones off the bench in the 67th minute, along with Alonso Martínez. 

Hannes Wolf and Fernández were the players who were replaced by Jones and Martínez. The match ultimately ended in a 1-0 defeat for New York City.

Midfielder John Kamara joins Philippines United City

Sierra Leone International John Kamara has penned a season deal with United City Football Club in the Philippines Football League (PFL), the top-tier league of football in the Philippines

“John Bankolé Kamara is a significant signing for United City FC. His versatility, leadership, and technical ability make him a valuable addition to the squad,” Coach Marian. 

The New Clark City-based club confirmed the news via their website on Friday as Kamara gears up for the new season.

Last season, the former Keşla enforcer played for Egaleo in the Greek second-tier league before leaving to join United City.

City is Kamara’s tenth professional club since he started with Tadamon Sour SC in 2008.

He made his senior international debut for Sierra Leone in 2013 and has made over 20 caps for Sierra Leone. He played a pivotal role on the road to Cameroon in 2021. Kamara played in all Sierra Leone matches at the  2021 AFCON.

David Sesay nets a stunner as Eastbourne Borough beat Taunton Town

David Sesay nets a stunner as Eastbourne beat Taunton Town

Eastbourne Borough defeated Taunton Town 2-0 in the National League South on Saturday, with Sierra Leone International David Sesay being instrumental in the victory.

David Sesay’s stunning strike gave the Sports the lead at the break, with Yahya Bamba’s late goal wrapping up all three points at Priory Lane.

Adam Murray’s side is now just three points from National League South safety with eight games to go.

In the first half, the visitors came close to scoring when Nat Jarvis hit the post and then Seb Bolton before going over. 

The Sports took the lead just before half-time with an excellent goal from Sesay. 

In the second half, Borough sealed the win in stoppage time with a goal from Yahya Bamba.

Born in Brent, Sesay joined Watford in 2007, turning professional in June 2016. Last season, he made 35 appearances for Weymouth and scored twice, having played an integral role in helping them escape relegation on the final day of last season.

Mjøndalen’s adventure for striker Alie Conteh in Norway 

Alie Conteh, a Sierra Leonean footballer, has secured work and residence permits to play for Mjøndalen in the 2024 season.

Mjøndalen competes in Obos Ligaen, the second tier in the Norwegian football league system.

The former FC Kallon and East End Lions striker was on trial with the team this summer and impressed immediately, even scoring two goals in an internal game.

The nineteen-year-old, who is a centre-forward, arrived in Norway on Friday and is ready to start training with his new teammates. 

Conteh is mainly a centre-forward but can also play in both wing roles. Head coach Kevin Nicol is also delighted to have the nineteen-year-old join the team. 

While other European clubs were interested, Conteh chose Mjøndalen.

David Kalokoh features in Jong Ajax’s win over De Graafschap

David Kalokoh, a football player from Sierra Leone, played a crucial role in Jong Ajax’s 2-0 victory against De Graafschap in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie on Monday, 11 March 2024. 

Jaydon Banel and Nassef Chourak scored in the 62nd and 98th minutes, respectively, securing their eighth win in 30 games for the season.

This win followed a string of defeats to NAC Breda, ADO Den Haag, SC Telstar, and TOP Oss, making it their first win in five matches. 

Kalokoh, an 18-year-old left-winger, was subbed off in the 86th minute. 

He has signed a new deal with Ajax, extending his stay until June 30, 2027.

Kalokoh was born in Sierra Leone and moved to Venlo, where he played with VV Vos for six years before joining VVV Venlo. At 13 years old, he came to Amsterdam to train with AFC Ajax. 

He signed his first professional contract with Ajax at the age of 15 in March 2021 and played in the UEFA Youth League in 2022.

Kalokoh made his Eerste Divisie debut on 28 April 2023, playing against his former club, VVV Venlo.

Sullay Kaikai Wins Cambridge’s Player Of The Month Award 

The winger of the Cambridge United team has won his first award of the season after an outstanding performance in February.

He contributed with one goal and four assists for the team. Kaikai, the winger, expressed his gratitude to the fans for recognising his efforts. He said, “It is a big thing to have my performances recognised by the fans. 

Ultimately, the goal is to help the team achieve its targets, but having the fans recognise my efforts is something special.” 

Love Cambridge is the sponsor of the Player of the Month award, and it is part of Cambridge BID, which is a collaboration of 1,200 businesses working to promote and improve the city of Cambridge. 

Each month’s winner will visit different famous locations in the city, courtesy of Love Cambridge, to have their photo taken with the award.
